Days of creation new(s)
About 2 years ago I started with someone pretending being my friend and student, a huge work about the Genesis. It was out of 7 canvases each one 190 cm x 120 cm. I started that job for he wanted to learn from me painting in a classical manner based on this work. For me it was interesting to manage such a large painting, having a helping hand to do that lot of work and I could hand down some of my knowledge I have got from my education and my 30 years of practice and experience. We did an agreement but not a written contract, for I knew him for many years and thought he is a honest person. I learned to know him as he started painting some years ago, his knowledge about painting-material was limited on acrylics on instant canvases, as you can buy ready to use in craft-stores. I helped him to start his atelier and first painting exhibition by doing the invitation font, layout and photography. He got his first experience about oil-colours in a three days beginners-workshop I gave a few month before we started. His knowledge before based only on some (autodidactically) self taught experimental experience and a few informal paintings he had done before we started.
He wasn't even able to do the scribbles and sketches before the main-work. So I gave him the idea what a scribble is and what it is good for and did the coloured sketches my by own at home, the large canvases we started later in his atelier.
… So the end of the story, some in this case unimportant details I left out, is that he broke the agreement and reclaims the work for him only. Till now after 3 offers to negotiate he refused, I 'll do a 4th and then I'll proceed against him, so I'm going to spend a lot of money to get some of my works back. After all if I'd get some of my works back I will not even exhibit them, for it would be too stupid to be set in connection with that guy any more. So I started a new smaller version, each canvas only 120 cm x 80 cm based on my sketches and the former composition, of course with some differences for I won't copy myself.
Here some photos of the scribbles, sketches and the process of painting of the old works that I quitted and that never will be finished
